FSBI "VNIIOkeangeologia"
FSBI "VNIIOkeangeologia" is one of the main enterprises involved in the implementation of sheet geological mapping of the Arctic shelf at a scale of 1: 1 000 000. This breakthrough was made possible by technical and methodological training of specialists of the Institute, large volumes of regional geophysical and prospecting works accompanied by offshore drilling, stable financing, and an influx of young professionals who are fluent in computer technology.
Thanks to the serial legends(Laptev-Sibiromorskaya, North-Kara-Barents Sea, South-Kara and Okhotsk developed by VNIIOkeangeologia and approved by the Bureau of the Editorial Board of the Ministry of Natural Resources,the compiled State Geological Map sheets of 1: 1,000,000 scale came close to the requirements of the 3rd Generation Card Instructions.
The concept of creating an integrated information-analytical system (IIAS) was developed in the VNIIOkeangeologia Federal State Budgetary Institution: “Gosgeolkarta-1000/3 of the Russian Federation Shelf”. The purpose of the IIAS is to integrate and compile information obtained in the compilation of sheets and serial legends for the purpose of regional mapping and assessment of the mineral and raw material potential of the continental of the shelf of Russia. The creation of such a system, summarizing the results for the entire shelf, is one of the main tasks of scientific work in the geology of the Russian continental shelf.
